Maternity and paternity leave rights of employees
Every employee in the UK has the right to maternity and paternity leave. These rights are designed to support individuals during significant life events, such as the birth or adoption of a child.
Maternity leave statutory rights
Maternity leave in the UK typically lasts for up to 52 weeks. During this period, employees are entitled to Statutory Maternity Pay for up to 39 weeks. It's important to note that employees on maternity leave are protected from redundancy, and if redundancies occur, alternative suitable employment should be provided.
Paternity leave statutory rights
Paternity leave allows eligible employees up to two weeks of paid leave. Paternity leave aims to give fathers or partners the opportunity to support their families during the early stages of parenthood.

With Explore Learning you will be entitled to 12 months maternity leave or two weeks of paternity leave. We believe in fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment, acknowledging the diverse needs of our employees, so if it suits you better we offer an alternative shared parental leave scheme that allows parents to share 50 weeks of leave between them.
