What happens in KS1?

Key Stage 1 covers years 1 and 2 of primary school. These years are all about your child developing school confidence. They are understanding what is expected of them in lessons and enjoying learning through topics and play.

There’s more emphasis on literacy and numeracy compared to reception year and some tests to work towards including the Year 1 phonics screener and SATs at the end of year 2.
