Edexcel Maths GCSE 2022 Paper 1
Paper 1 explored core Maths concepts starting from basic calculations and algebraic expressions. As the paper advanced, it presented a blend of arithmetic and geometric questions, gradually elevating in difficulty to challenge students’ understanding and application of mathematical principles. Both the Foundation and higher tier papers assessed students’ abilities in a progressive manner.
The Foundation paper contained 30 questions, while the Higher tier paper presented 21 questions, both prohibiting the use of a calculator.
Edexcel Maths GCSE 2022 Paper 2
Paper 2 for both Foundation and Higher tiers combined basic arithmetic with advanced problem-solving, starting with questions asking to convert decimals into percentages and questions around arithmetic and geometry. The foundation tier focused on practical Maths and gradually increase in complexity, while the Higher tier paper challenged students with sophisticated topics like advanced algebra and trigonometry.
The Foundation tier paper presented 28 questions while the Higher tier paper contained 22 questions, both permitting the use of a calculator.
Edexcel Maths GCSE 2022 Paper 3
Both tiers of Paper 3 in the Edexcel GCSE Maths 2022 exams assessed students’ ability to apply fundamental and advanced Maths concepts. The Foundation tier paper included questions on converting percentages to fractions, working with simple equations and identifying factors of numbers. The Higher tier paper presented more challenging questions, including factorisation and simplification of expressions, coordinate geometry and interpretation of more advanced data representations.
The Foundation tier paper contained 30 questions, while the Higher tier paper displayed 22 questions, both allowing students to use a calculator.
