FAQs
How long does the recruitment process take?
The whole process works at your pace. We try to get you through as quickly as possible, so from the date that you apply, to the date that you’re offered a job and start working with us, it could be less than a month!
What are the academic requirements for the Assistant Manager role?
We require a 5/C or above in GCSE maths and English (or equivalent). Having a 2:2 degree or above in any discipline is preferred, however we also do accept non-graduates with relevant experience and passion for the role!
How much time will I spend working with children?
Being an Assistant Manager is all about getting stuck in and being exceptionally hands on as a manager. You will be a first class tutor and role model this to your team, meaning you’ll spend part of every single day working with children in some capacity, while also getting stuck into the other areas of the role such as sales, leadership and customer service.
I was previously unsuccessful. Can I reapply?
We understand that you’ll change, learn and develop and so we do accept re-applications after 1 year. However, if you feel ready before this, please get in touch so we can discuss your application.
Can I relocate in the future?
As you progress, there may be the opportunity to move to a different centre.
What will my hours be?
Our Assistant Managers work: 11am-8pm Tuesdays & Wednesday 11am - 7pm on Thursday 9am - 6pm on Fridays 9am-5pm on Saturdays
We remain open during school holidays.
There are some regional variations to our opening hours.
What if there isn't a vacancy in my preferred location?
We update our vacancies regularly, so do check back to see if a vacancy becomes available in your preferred location. When you apply for a vacancy, you can make us aware of other locations you would be interested in.
How many staff work in each centre?
Our tuition centres typically have a leadership team of one Centre Director, one Assistant Manager and a team of 15-30 part-time tutors, depending on the number of members that attend the centre.

Progress your career
Assistant Manager Salary
Our starting salary for Assistant Managers is £25,750. You’ll get an additional weighting of £3,500 if you work within the M25, or an additional £1,000 if the centre is within 10 miles of the M25.
As you progress with your career at Explore, your salary will reflect this. You'll have a yearly salary increase based on your length of service and performance in the role, and if you're promoted, you'll be offered a new salary reflective of your new role and its responsibilities.
Centre Manager Salary
Our starting salary for Centre Leads is £30,250. You’ll get an additional weighting of £3,500 if you work within the M25, or an additional £1,000 if the centre is within 10 miles of the M25.
As you progress with your career at Explore, your salary will reflect this. You'll have a yearly salary increase based on your length of service and performance in the role, and if you're promoted, you'll be offered a new salary reflective of your new role and its responsibilities.
