Explore tutor named regional winner at award ceremony!

Explore Learning tutor Shioma-Lei Craythorne was named a regional winner at the Student Employee of the Year Awards 2017!

We’re excited to share the news that Shioma-Lei Craythorne, a tutor at our Shirley, Solihul centre (who is also studying for her PhD!) won the award for ‘Above and beyond off campus’. She was presented with the award at Aston University and also went on to be named the regional winner for The Midlands at the Student Employee of the Year Awards.

Coordinated by the National Association of Student Employment Services (NASES) since 2002, the Student Employee of the Year Awards recognise and promote the outstanding contributions and achievements of students who combine part-time work with their study commitments.

Shioma-Lei attended the evening with the Centre Director of the Shirley Explore Learning centre, Lucy Holder. They had a lovely evening at the awards together and Shioma-Lei will also have her award accredited on her degree script, a real testament to her achievement.

Lucy, who nominated Shioma-Lei for the award, said “Shioma-Lei is a really inspiring tutor who has a passion for education and makes learning fun. She has made great bonds with the children and parents throughout her time at Explore learning, treats each student equally and will go out of her way to ensure she is delivering the best teaching and service as possible.”

Lucy also said “The children love her (Shioma-Lei) and describe her as kind, caring and helpful. They selected her as their favourite tutor, and she was presented with the Tutor of the Year award at Explore Learning in February 2016 for her genuine enthusiasm for working with children, her passion for education and wanting to see the children reach their full potential.”
